The power of… attitude

Coaching with Renata - Attitude is key!How many times have you heard that attitude is key to your success? Hundreds? Thousands? Millions? ;) If you thought it’s silly, too simple or plain stupid, I’d suggest you rethink that. Why?

Attitude can set a tone for your entire day!

For starters, let’s look at an example – a typical beginning of my autumn day something like… four years ago.

I would wake up, irritated that I need to get out of bed and go to work. Angry at the rainy, dark and gloomy weather. Irritated by the sound of rain and the need for umbrellas. All the negativity would swirl around me throughout my working hours and the to-do’s would make me literally mad. I’d make mistakes, which would add even more irritation, frustration and anger at everything and at the same time – nothing in particular. I lived in the negative for the sake of being bitchy, I think. I’d complain and moan, rant and complain some more about how the world sucked, big time. And this would go on and on and on and on… I think you get what I’m talking about.

And now, the day would go like this:

I’d wake up, smile at the alarm clock, stretch and meditate for 15 minutes. I’d get up still smiling and in a very good mood, calm and centered, with a head full of ideas for the day. I’d journal, go through my to-do list, smile some more and start my day on a very positive note. I would admire the raindrops and the clouds, smile at the wind throwing leaves in my face and inviting me to play. I’d dance or jump in the rain, not worrying about getting wet on my way to work. I’d giggle at the drops that landed on my face or any other body part. I’d do what I had to, grateful that I could do it. I’d feel empowered and I would really enjoy my day – each and every aspect of it.

I know that I can’t change the weather, because it’s out of my control. But I know that I can change the way I look at it, interpret what’s going on and choose the positive.

Example – How attitude influences experience

Now, I am conquering my fear of creating videos in which I am visible. I went through one 30 day video challenge in May and I’m participating in another one this month. I’m starting to love how much we can give and share in a few minutes of video.

Yes, I know I tend to ramble. I know I make language mistakes. I know I’m not the best speaker out there. But if you have a few minutes to spare (this time it’s almost 6), I encourage you to listen to this short story of my day from a few weeks back and the difference attitude can make in forming memories and influencing experiences.

I hope that you can see that your attitude is really, really important. And I guess it’s silly how such a simple thing can influence your life, from small things to enormous event. But it often proves right that the little and the seemingly uninfluential choices and decisions have the biggest impact on us.
So try it out. Today. Now. See how it goes. You’ve got nothing to lose and as always – a lot to gain. And if you do, let me know :)
